Howard Yount has its fall lineup of pants now in stock. Prices range from $135 (cotton and moleskine), $150 (wool flannel), $165 (wool twill) and $185 (super 120s wool flannel).
Once my wallet recovers from today’s Brooks Brothers sale, I’ll probably jump on a pair of cotton pants, given that the only chinos I own are too lightweight for fall and winter.
A while back I bought a pair of pants from HY, but unfortunately had to return the because they were too small and the next size up wasn’t available (alas, the problem of waiting until sales). Regardless, let me say these pants are definitely worth the price. The fabric quality is top notch, the fit is PERFECT in regards to tapering and the only tailoring you need to get done is the hem.
If you’ve been waiting for a while to grab a pair of flannel pants, then this could be your answer. Most wool flannel pants I’ve seen will run you around $100 and will probably need about $50 in tailoring anyway (plus shipping and tax). If you’re going to spend that much, might as well get some finely made Italian pants, plus the shipping’s free and the customer service is fantastic when it comes to returns and exchanges.
