Howard Yount tropical wool mid-grey trousers — Just bought these. Howard Yount has a full restock of summer-weight wool trousers right now, so nab a pair if you thought about getting a pair before, but missed out.
I opted for the mid-grey over the dark grey because I also plan on getting these wool-mohair blend trousers from Brooks Brothers as a slightly dressier pair. I liked the way the looked when I saw them in the store, but had to wait for them to get my size back in stock.
I want to give a thanks to dieworkwear for answering a question I had about wool-mohair blended pants. Here’s what he had to say:
Tropical weight wools is a genus, if you will, and things like fresco and wool-mohair blends are the species within that genus.
Wool-mohair is nice. It’s a bit shiny though, but that can be nice depending on where you’re wearing it. Mohair is goat hair, and it doesn’t hold heat the way that wool does. Depending on the amount of mohair mixed in, it can feel cool. Wool-mohair blends also tend to be woven with the same open weaves, because they’re meant to be worn during the summer.
I’ve heard that there are different types of mohair too, with ones taken from kid goats being softer. Dont know what BB uses though.
These pants definitely had a sheen to them, but I think they’ll work well both at my place of work and situations this summer where I’ll need something slightly dressier than what I usually wear.
If for some reason you missed it, dieworkwear’s post on summer fabrics on Put This On is worth reading, too.
