The “Do it for the Shocked Velociraptor” Meetup - February 29th
Who remembers when Kiyoshi almost killed Kyle? I do! Fortunately for Kyle, Kiyoshi’s away on business in the Bay Area for awhile and is unable to make it to the next Meet-up on 29th.
Hopefully this time around, Kyle can keep from turning jovial conversations about jawnz into real life re-enactments of Mortal Kombat matches. All in all, you should come.
With that said, here are the specifics:
Where: Miller’s Pub. 134 South Wabash Ave.
When: Wednesday, February 29th at 8pm.
Why: Why not? Tommy (suitsandboots), Meredith (canarycoal) and few others may show up.
Come meet up with some familiar faces, new faces, and the like.

I sincerely miss hanging out with these fine folks. Please do attend!

One minute they’re friends engaged in a light chat about jawnz, next thing you know Kiyoshi just snaps… but no one gave a damn. He does this all the time.
Again, not above posing like a complete dork in photos. I call that look “shocked velociraptor”.

Chicago Meet up - TODAY!
A final reminder. I’ll be there tonight along with a host of other fine folks. Join us!
Shout out to ordinaryglory for putting this together:
German Beer and Christmas Sweaters…
You couldn’t beat that kind of good time with a stick, especially on the Monday before Christmas.
With that said:
1) Come to the Chicago Christmas Holiday Meet Up, and if you’re not having a good time, have a beer and westfälisches schinkenbrot on me.
2) Tommy (suitsandboots), Kiyoshi (thesilentist), Eric (theodinspire), Meredith (canarycoal), Ernest (smileifyourewinning) and MANY others will be in full effect for the festivities.
No need to RSVP this time. If you can make it, great. You can check in here, if you wish to.
Where: Brauhaus. 4732 North Lincoln Avenue
When: Monday, December 19th at 7:30pm
As for the Christmas sweaters, go all out!

If you’re in Chicago, then this should be tremendous fun.
Also, I should sidenote that Nat (natw), Noah (noahzagor) Ian (blazerbeams) and The Midwest Style (themidwestyle) have stated they’ll be in attendance.
As always, this meetup is open to any and all — no Tumblr, no #menswear enthusiasm necessary.

Chicago Menswear Tebowing.
Only reason why I’m not in this photo is because I took it.

Kicking it with @thesilentist at the Outlier event. Not even torrential downpours will keep us from donning our favorite kicks.
Fun times last night. The one thing that really caught my eye was the Outlier wool vest. If you’re in Chicago and a cyclist, then you should stop by Connect and check out the gear.

Vintage Chicago club neckties — One of the State Street Marshall Field’s clock and another of the Chicago Water Tower place. I’d have bought them already, if they weren’t selling for such ridiculous prices.

Shrine Haberdashers on Gilt City Chicago

If you live in Chicago, then you might want to check out the Shrine Haberdashers Gilt City offer today. Shrine Haberdashers is a really neat shop on Oak Street downtown that carries an impressive amount of high-end mens accessories, like neckties from Drake’s London and umbrellas from Francesco Maglia (which are really amazing).
I’ve been in their shop before and their customer service is extremely friendly and helpful. And this Gilt City deal is pretty sweet: $50 for $100 of in-store credit.
A similar deal to this ran on Rue La La’s local Chicago site and I bought two such certificates (one for myself and one to use later to put toward a gift for either my brother or father).
For those of you who don’t live in Chicago and can’t take advantage of this deal, you can use the code #bowtietuesday (I’m not sure if it’s with or without the “#”) to get 15% off all of their bowties online.
(If you don’t have a Gilt City account, click here — and I get a referral fee, I think.)
ADDING: Tommy beat me to posting about this…
