I've been wondering...what's it like to not have a face?

- Asked by slothbearwolf

Well, a lot of people confuse me with Vic Sage, which isn’t exactly a bad thing.

In all seriousness though, I decided to crop my face out on 99% of these photos because I tend to make stupid faces and it’s hard enough to photography my body not looking completely dumb in the WIWT pictures.

Plus, this menswear stuff is already a bit self-centered and I think going faceless helps make me appear slightly less egotistical. Not saying that people who do choose to show their face have a big ego or anything, but I would just feel that way personally having to see my face on my blog each day.

A quick New Year’s thanks

Meant to post something about this earlier, but forgot and got busy.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has followed me on this blog for the past few brief, but fun, months. About a year ago, I just started reading about style and making a few changes here and there — not even resolution related, but moreso out of curiosity and desire to do something different and better. I didn’t picture myself even blogging about the topic much or remotely being approached for advice.

It’s been a learning experience and will continue to be. Mostly though, it’s been just plain fun and exciting to be a part of what’s a growing community of like-minded — and yet still unique — individuals who share an affinity and passion for this vague notion of finding a slice of personal style.

I hope your new year finds you well!

I started a Twitter account for this site. While I won’t be auto-importing every post I do here to my Twitter feed, I’ll be updating it if I see something interesting or write a more lengthy post.
I also began this account because I wanted to follow a bunch of style-related accounts, but not on my personal account (where I tend to follow friends and such).

Hit 100 followers today! Thanks to everyone that’s been reading, especially to those of you who have given feedback. It hasn’t even been two months yet, but this blog’s reached a lot more people than I ever imagined it would.

A quick ‘thank you’ to my new followers

Hi all!

First, thank you for the follows/likes/etc. I’m glad that you found my thoughts interesting enough to read in your dashboards. As always, I appreciate constructive feedback.

Secondly, while I don’t do a great deal of reblogging men’s style on Tumblr, several of these people do. Others have some great insights in areas that I have none. A good deal of them have been doing this sort of thing longer than myself and are definitely worth a look/follow.

Finally, I just want to say that I’m relatively new to all of this “style” thing and still trying to learn a lot. I’m (literally) a thrifty kind of person who isn’t going to pretend that he can drop phat stacks on a pair of slacks. I think anyone can emulate good style on any budget with a decent tailor on their side. Like anyone, I’ve made my share of style mistakes and over time I’ll show you what I’m doing to correct them or move past them.

Thanks for the love!

Hello new followers via Put This On!

First off, thanks to Put This On for the link and introducing me to the idea of dressing like a grown up and what that means, exactly.

Secondly, I’ve got to share the love. If you like what you’re finding here, then here’s a list of others on Tumblr I follow that I’d recommend you take a look at. They’ve been doing this longer than me and post different stuff than I do:

Hello

I’m not new to blogging by any means, but wanted to create a semi-anonymous place to document my journey to discover my personal style — whatever that may be, it’s a process! — without subjecting those who read my personal blog to it.

If this kind of thing interests you, great! Your feedback is always welcome. If not, then I’m sure you’ll find somewhere else to spend your time.

You can contact me at thesilentist@gmail.com or leave me a comment via Tumblr’s ask function.
